At Rheinlander Bakery we believe in doing things the old fashioned way. Everything we make is from scratch, handcrafted in small batches. The Dimmer family has owned the bakery since 1963 and our reputation for fine European baking has been superb. We carry this tradition into our gluten free and sugar free lines, the passion of our co-owner Maro Dimmer.
Maro Dimmer married Edward Dimmer, who grew up in this bakery. Ed learned his trade from his German born father, who taught him the art of baking. The science of baking came from a deep studying of chemistry and food science. So Ed was ready for the challenge and innovation that came their way from life changing experiences.
In 2001, first came Maro’s battle with cancer and then a diagnosis of celiac disease 5 years into that battle. The double struggle has changed this little retail bakery into a nation wide front runner in gluten free, sugar free baking.
Based on research and knowledge for fighting cancer and celiac disease, Maro focused on exemplary nutrition. Today, we have created baked goods and mixes that are low glycemic as well as gluten free. They are appropriate for both celiacs and diabetics who both need a very strong immunity. They are really great for anyone that wants to maintain great health.
We have infused our gluten free, sugar free baking with all the taste of our traditional lines. We could not treat ourselves, or our new special needs customers any different than we have treated our regular customers for over 45 years.
